I don't see the problem...

Michigan's Supreme Court has finally gotten around to running on a decade-old law requiring IDs to vote. I don't see the problem with asking people to produce an ID, particularly in a situation where photo IDs can be obtained for free and where you can just sign an affidavit stating that you do not have an ID.

Part of the right to vote is the right to ensure that your vote is counted and counted with equal weight. The current system, while voting fraud isn't demonstrably rife, allows the appearance of impropriety. The problem isn't the zombie vote; the problem is the ease with which someone can walk into the poll, glance down at the book, pick out a name and vote as a legitimate voter. Our current system is based on the principal that we have no unscrupulous people, which seems an odd assumption to make.
